stu stu studio

Today, AG decided to surprise me with a shopping spree. i'd been complaining about the studio. the computer "desk" is really my drafting table turned into an improvised work station. since it's too tall, and so is the chair, i've been having neck and back aches for some time now. we really needed a real desk! so we went desk and chair hunting. we looked everywhere until we exhausted all the options (like we usually do), until we had our winners!!!

We found a cute little desk, the perfect chair (in a fabulous kelly green color) and we even got a banker's lamp like the one i'd been wanting for a loooong time (also in kelly green!!!). oh, and we also went thrift shopping and got the greatest tchotchke ever... a very retro orange lion figurine! i love it! i LOVE how the studio is coming together, it's starting to feel a bit more mid century mod! for now, a photo montage since the desk and chair will be delivered until next week... CAN'T WAIT!

in the dining room with the candlestick

Things are starting to shape up. i thought it would never happen, but the space is slowly coming together. we did some furniture rearranging (by some i mean we moved everything around until we were satisfied), and the space opened up even more. i'm not completely happy with where the dark brown couch ended up, but it's the best option since we had to arrange everything around the chandelier. you know, form follows function, bla, bla, bla. i'm a huge believer in this principle of modern architecture... and the old couch arrangement did not work anymore.

I really like how the black walls are looking, i'm starting to see now the vintage modern brocade theme going on... still some work to do, but i'm liking what i'm seeing!

floor plans

This is the layout for casa nuncajamas. on left, first floor and on right, second floor.

On first floor: garage, garden, (high ceiling) dining room, bathroom, kitchen, patio, laundry room, maid's room (which we plan to turn into a second guest room). on second floor: master bedroom with balcony, living room, terrace, guest room, bathroom and study.

Since we wanted to decorate each room according to a theme, after bouncing ideas, we pretty much agreed on almost every theme we wanted. the garden is tropical oasis. the dining room is vintage modern brocade (yes, inspired on the whole brocade home line). the kitchen is going to be pop artistry. the living room and terrace is aca tiki (inspired on the glamorous acapulco of the 50's-60's and the kitschy tiki decor). the guest room will someday be cabin in the woods, and the study is mid century mod. no theme for the master's bedroom yet. i wanted it to be either cloud in the sky or powder room, but none were approved. yet.
